I'm often asked, “I know I need to get the Loan Signing System Certification AND the NNA's Certification, but what which one should I get first?”
The answer depends on whether you're a beginner notary loan signing agent or not.
Set a Solid Foundation of Signing Agent Education First
You are just becoming a notary public loan signing agent for the first time, then without a shadow of doubt you should take the Loan Signing System Training Course and Certification first.
Understand that the NNA signing agent course is designed for signing agents who are already notary signing agents so they can be certified to work with specific title companies. If you have never even done a loan signing, trying to work for every title company is putting the cart before the horse. If you’re new to the industry, the NNA certification isn’t quite for you... yet. Loan Signing System is "Real World" Training
There is reason that the NNA doesn't even give you a set of loan documents with their certification. It’s because they assume you have already done loan signings. Which in that case would mean you don't need loan documents to study.
Trying to learn to be a signing agent without ever seeing a full set of loan documents would be like trying to learn how to play basketball without ever actually holding a basketball! A basketball to a basketball player is loan documents to a signing agent. They are the single most important thing for a beginning signing agent to learn and The NNA does not give you a set! How in the world can you learn to be a signing agent without ever seeing, touching, or getting to know a set of loan documents? Once again, the NNA certification is designed for experienced signing agents - that is why. Because it’s not meant for new signing agents, a number of other things are missing from their training. They don't tell you how to organize a loan signing appointment. They don't tell how to go over a closing statement with a borrower. The NNA doesn't give you real estate and mortgage definitions. How can someone successfully enter a new industry and not know even know the industry verbiage? Now, this video is not a knock on the NNA certification, it’s just not meant for a brand new notary loan signing agent. It’s is meant for notary publics who are already signing agents. This is also why you may have already taken the NNA certification and still don't feel comfortable that you can do a signing. The NNA is for experienced signing agents. Not beginning signing agents. Taking your NNA certification first is like learning how to drive race car without even knowing how to drive a car yet. Lastly, the biggest thing the NNA doesn't teach you is how to market yourself so you can actually receive loan signing jobs. Why? Because they assume you are an experienced signing agent and you already know how to do that. This is why they are a signing certification only.
Loan Signing System is so much more than a signing certification. We are a total immersion into becoming a successful signing agent which includes teaching you how to market yourself.
What good does it do to know how to do a loan signing but not how to get actual loans signings? That's like being able to drive a car but have no place to drive it. The NNA Signing Agent Certification is Great - Get it 2nd
The NNA has a great certification. It absolutely holds weight in the industry. And you will need to take it eventually. It just shouldn't be the first certification you take.
Save your money. Take the NNA certification when you are more experienced and need to expose yourself to more title companies. Taking it right out of the gate is overzealous and, frankly, a waste of money. More importantly, you won't learn what you need to do as a beginning signing agent. That is why I created the Loan Signing System Training Course and Certification - to teach both new and experienced signing agents what the NNA does not teach you and that is ABCs of being a signing agent, every single thing you need to know, including how to get your first signing, your 100th, and 1000th signing. If you want to be walked through a set of loan documents, to know every single question a borrower will ask you, and you want loan documents in your hand... take my Certification first. You'll be glad you did. Oh, the last thing the NNA doesn't do that the Loan Signing System Certification does is give you your money back if you didn't learn a thing. All of our courses come with a 100% money back guarantee.
