Attempting to plug a printer into an insufficient power source can trip breakers, cause overheating at various points in the electrical system, and cause more damage that it's worth to even attempt.

What is the Best Mobile Office Setup for Me? External Battery or Internal Battery?

There are two different types of mobile offices that you can build so you can print on the road:

External Battery Mobile Office Printer Setup

An "External Battery Mobile Office Printer Setup" utilizes an external 12V 100AH deep cycle battery (often used for RV Camping) to draw power from. The external battery would sit in your trunk and would be connected to an inverter. You would plug in your printer to the inverter and use the printer throughout the day. At the end of the day, you would plug your external battery into a power outlet in your home to recharge it. 

This may be the best setup for you if you want an easier initial setup without needing any expertise to run wire through the hood of your car OR you are concerned that an "internal car battery" setup could impact your car warranty or pose a danger with a faulty setup. It also may be the best setup if you have an electric vehicle such as a Tesla, Audi e-Tron, Chevy Bolt, etc.

Internal Car Battery Mobile Office Printer Setup

An "Internal Car Battery Mobile Office Printer Setup" is when you connect your printer and inverter directly to the battery in the hood of your car (or in some cases the battery is in your trunk). 

This setup actually costs less because you wouldn't need to purchase the external battery and battery charger. However, there is a level of technical expertise required to run the wire through the hood of your car and ensure it doesn't interfere with the standard functions of your engine. 

An internal car battery mobile office printer setup may be the best option for you if you have a level of expertise with automobile installations and are sure that this type of setup doesn't impact your car, car warranties, safety, etc.
